1. Breadth Portfolio- I have 14 that I like. I have others that I have made but not necessarily that I want to display in my portfolio.
Concentration Portfolio-I have 8 all photography of black and white portraits.
2.My biggest weakness is to find the time and be motivated to take lots and lots of pictures!!
3. My "best" memory, actually worst, of 1st semester is definitely the day when Art club was on the field trip to Chicago and I was the only student in art portfolio. Guess who my sub was??? Yep Ms. B. Not my favorite person because I honestly don't like student teachers. so anyway back to my "best" memory. i was sitting in class trying to get my assignment done and B would not stop talking to me. She continued to repeat the same conversation over and over again, and by the end of the hour I got nothing done.
4. I have learned that I really enjoy taking portraits. I like to take photography of children. I have learned that in my artwork I try to catch people in their natural habitat, unposed. It make the picture feel real. About myself, I have leaned that I am a perfectionist. if I don't like the project that I have made I would rather just completely change or get rid of it. I don't want to put together a decent portfolio. I want to produce and exceptional portfolio.
5. I expect you to give me pointers and critique my work so that I can correct my errors and fix my habits now rather than struggle later. Also, maybe teach me some more easy tricks on Photoshop. You can push me by giving me a topic of what you want maybe. cause usually when i am given a little direction my mind creates many ideas. I just need a starting point
I agree that it is difficult to get motivated sometimes! That is really why sometimes I just let my hand do the work and not stress my head.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your photos and think you will succeed at U of I! Your drive and want to be perfection is very admirable. Although no one person is perfect, and that's why art is unique!
Personally I agree with you on Ms. B...and I too have trouble getting motivated to do projects. It's really hard doing things in class but I think that if we stay focused and try to get motivated then we will get them done and be that much closer to finishing our portfolio!:)
ReplyDelete"I don't want to put together a decent portfolio. I want to produce and exceptional portfolio." ....I like that! When your a famous photographer and there are books and articles about you, that should be quoted. Try to find some motivation in that desire to make your portfolio exceptional.

ReplyDeletei think your expectations of creating an "exceptional portfolio" is GREAT! i wish i had that kind of drive i want to get everything done and make it look amazing i have sooooo many projects left in my head and they are just waiting to burst out. If only i had the time and people un afrade to help me do it. Wanna be a model? lol well anyway i love your art and i can't wait to see more. Don't get to overburdened by trying to make everything perfect though you may not need to strive for it, let it flow. Perfection will come with time and excitement. projects i get excited about usually come out really well so i'm trying to get excited about everything witch in my blog i've noted that ill be turning into the "art Monster" soon and i can feel it happening. Jus well, BE EXCITED!
I will make it my goal to push you as hard as I plan on pushing Neil. I want to see you produce amazing photographs that express emotion and provoke a feeling in the viewer. At the same time improving your editing skills. I feel like even at 20 years old :), I am still learning how to improve my photographs or learning newer methods. We will both be improving together.
